Unibond Seafood International - Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility

As one of the largest seafood processors in the world, we have a vested interest in the long-term health of our Oceans. By our actions, we need to ensure that we protect the marine habitat as well as those communities that are dependant upon harvesting its resources, for future generations to come.

Our commitment to seafood sustainability is a long term one as we recognise there are no quick fixes. We support those fisheries that have responsible, sustainable fishing practices at the heart of everything they do.

We support the work of a number of non-governmental organisations such as the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) and Alaska RFM (Responsible Fisheries Management) who set high industry standards to ensure the minimal environmental impacts on our Global Fisheries. We’re proud that our processing factory was the first in China to be awarded ‘MSC Chain of Custody’ for Pacific Cod.

Ethical Trading

We work closely with International regulatory organisations such as Sedex and we uphold core principles such as non- discriminatory, safe working conditions. We respect our employees right to collective bargaining and promote an environment which ensures we maintain a happy and focused team.

We go above and beyond the expected minimum standards set out by the ETI to ensure that all our staff enjoy working for Unibond.

A Disadvantaged Employee Charity Fund was set up in August 2015 with an initial fund of RMB1m.  This fund helps support our employees during difficult times such as family illness.

In addition to being a Sedex member, we also work with other Ethical Audit Frameworks.
